The drive to increase the quality and quantity of food production in Tigray has been a core focus of REST’s work from its earliest days, as a central part of ensuring household food security and preventing future famine. While increasing food supply continues to be an imperative, equally if not even more imperative is the importance of doing so within the context of an overall climate smart agricultural development approach, which encompasses awareness of, monitoring, and contingency planning for the impact of accelerating climate change on Tigray region overall, and in particular, recognition of the interrelated impact and cause and effect relationships between agricultural practices, natural resources and climate change.
